Colleges and Schools
This specialization is designed for classroom teachers who want to take a larger leadership role in their school or district, providing them with an opportunity to learn more about what it takes to be a private or public K-12 school educational leader. However, the curriculum is not approved to lead to licensure/certification as a principal or assistant principal except through a collaborative partnership between Walden University and the Harris County Department of Education in Texas known as the Future Texas Administrators Program.
The curriculum for the Master of Science in Education, with an emphasis on Educational Leadership, reflects the standards for leadership education developed by the Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium and the National Policy Board for Educational Administration. This program, grounded in research and evidence of best practice, defines what educational leaders need to know and be able to do, at the most practical level, to enhance learning opportunities and outcomes for all students.
