More Ways to Learn: Residencies and Field Experiences

Face-to-Face Residencies

Academic residencies give you the opportunity to collaborate with hundreds of your peers and faculty in face-to-face learning experiences. At these three-, four, six- and 12-day residency sessions (depending on your degree program), you’ll network with other students, work with faculty, and attend seminars and research sessions.

Available mostly for doctoral students, residencies enhance your learning at key points in your development. Residencies convene nearly every month of the year in locations throughout the United States and abroad.

Additional benefits include

  • Focusing on your writing, research, and critical-thinking skills
  • Sharing experiences and insights with students with similar interests
  • Supporting you in developing your dissertation
  • Helping prepare you for participation in professional communities of scholars

A select group of Walden programs features a field experience component that allows you to put your new skills into practice. The program helps refine your professional goals as well as provides the opportunity to connect theory and practice.
