Academic Transition Points

As a student enrolled in Walden’s special education endorsement program, you may follow the steps outlined below to complete your studies.

Transition Point 1


Admission to Walden’s special education endorsement program

  • You can expect to complete the components of Transition Point 1 during the admissions process.
  • You must have a bachelor’s degree from a U.S. institution accredited by a regional professional/specialized or national accrediting organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and have a current teaching license from any state.

Transition Point 2


Approval for clinical practicum

  • You can expect to complete all components of Transition Point 2 by the end of your fifth course in the program.
  • You must have submitted your application for clinical practicum by the end of the first semester of the program. Students must have a 2.75 GPA by the end of their fifth course to begin their clinical practicum experience.

Transition Point 3


Program completion

  • You can expect to complete all components of Transition Point 3 upon completing all program requirements.
  • You must maintain a cumulative program GPA of at least 2.75, including a grade of C or better in the clinical practicum. Note: To be admitted to the Walden University Master of Science in Education (M.S.Ed.) degree program, your cumulative GPA must be at least 3.0.
  • All program course requirements must be fully met, including a review of your Professional Portfolio and all its required elements.
