New Walden specialization for those who teach adults
Do you teach at a community college or provide training for adults in a school district or corporate setting?
Walden’s new Ed.D. specialization in Higher Education and Adult Learning was designed to help you meet your professional goals.
Community Health Promotion and Education
The Community Health Promotion and Education specialization focuses on developing strategies that improve the health of communities and their individual members. Included in this specialization are the study of multiple issues of health and human behavior, including health and healing, health and professional behavior, health and social behavior, and health and life span issues. You may focus in the areas of community health, environmental and occupational health, school health, and worksite health, or you can design your own area of study. Regardless of your area of study, your academic work will incorporate these three core community health functions of assessment, policy, and assurance:
- Community health assessment, which examines the community’s capacity to plan for and respond to health threats and initiatives
- Community health policy, which emphasizes policy formulation, development, implementation, and analysis in light of societal values and resources
- Community health assurance, which focuses on creating accessible health programs and services
Note: You have the option to design your own course of study; however, it must fit within the existing structure of the Community Health Promotion and Education specialization. It must also be developed in consultation with program faculty and approved by the faculty chair.
